Ultraprint Extension — Known Issues & Fixes

Quick solutions to the most common Ultraprint setup and printing problems.

🔴 Print Job Sent but Nothing Prints

Most common cause: The Ultraprint Hub is not running on the computer connected to the printer.

Fix:

  1. Check the system tray (Windows) or top bar (Linux) for the Ultraprint Hub icon.
  2. If it's not running, launch it and sign in.
  3. Verify the Hub shows "Connected" status.

Odoo-side check: In Odoo POS, go to Settings → Hardware Proxy and confirm the Hub IP address matches your computer's local IP.


🔴 "No Printer Found" in the Hub

Cause: The printer is not properly installed at the OS level, or it's on a different network.

Fix:

  1. Open your OS printer settings (Windows: Settings → Printers & Scanners; Linux: CUPS admin at localhost:631).
  2. Confirm the printer is listed and shows "Ready" status.
  3. For network printers: ensure the printer and the Hub computer are on the same subnet.
  4. For USB printers: try a different USB port and check the cable.

🔴 Receipt Prints Garbled / Wrong Characters

Cause: Incorrect printer driver or ESC/POS command mismatch.

Fix:

  1. Install the manufacturer's ESC/POS driver (not the generic text driver).
  2. In the Ultraprint Hub, set the printer type to "ESC/POS Thermal".
  3. In Odoo POS settings, ensure Receipt Printer is enabled and the proxy IP is correct.

🔴 Kitchen Order Tickets Not Routing

Cause: The POS category is not mapped to a printer in the Ultraprint Hub.

Fix:

  1. In the Hub, go to Printer Routing.
  2. Assign each POS Product Category to the correct printer (e.g., "Kitchen" category → Kitchen Printer).
  3. Restart the POS session after making changes.

🔴 Extension Shows "Offline" in Browser

Cause: Browser cannot reach the Hub on the local network.

Fix:

  1. Ensure the Hub computer and the browser device are on the same Wi-Fi / LAN.
  2. Check Windows Firewall / Linux iptables — port 8069 or the Hub's configured port must be open.
  3. Try accessing http://:/hw_proxy/status from the browser device to test connectivity.

🔴 Slow or Delayed Prints During Peak Hours

Cause: Print queue backlog or network congestion.

Fix:

  1. Switch the Hub computer to a wired Ethernet connection.
  2. Clear the OS print queue regularly.
  3. Upgrade to the Business plan for multi-printer load balancing.

🔴 Odoo Online (odoo.com) Not Supported

Important: Ultraprint requires server-side components that must be installed on your Odoo instance. This is not possible with Odoo Online (SaaS).

Supported platforms: Odoo.sh, self-hosted (on-premise), and dedicated VPS/cloud servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the extension say 'Hub Offline' when the Hub is running?

The browser cannot reach the Hub IP. Ensure both devices are on the same network, and check that your firewall allows inbound connections on the Hub port (default 8069).

Does Ultraprint work with Odoo Online (odoo.com)?

No. Ultraprint requires server-side components that must be installed on your Odoo instance. It works with Odoo.sh, self-hosted, and dedicated cloud servers.

Can I use Ultraprint with multiple Odoo databases?

Yes. The Hub can connect to multiple Odoo instances. Configure each connection separately in the Hub settings.

Why are my prints slow during busy hours?

Network congestion or large print files can cause delays. Switch to wired Ethernet, reduce receipt image quality, or upgrade to the Business plan for load balancing.

The extension was working and suddenly stopped. What happened?

Check for: browser updates that disabled the extension, Hub computer sleep mode, changed network settings, or expired subscription.
